Outlander Chronicles 2013, Day 007

Outlander Chronicles 2013
Day 007 |Audiobook: Outlander, Part 2 | 00:00:00 – 01:37:05 |
(till the middle of chapter 14: A Wedding Takes Place)

The Plot:
Dougal takes Claire to Captain Randall. Randall still believes Claire is a spy, Dougal on the other hand doesn’t. Claire learns from Dougal what lies between Jamie and Randall. To protect Claire from Randall she has to become a Scot. By marriage. To Jamie ;-)

My 2 cents:
I think this might have been the part which turned me into a Claire/Jamie shipper. I love how they confide in each other or at least Jamie confides in Claire.
Jamie was adorable all throughout this part, starting with the night at the inn, in which he sleeps in front of her door to protect her from the drunk English soldiers. And in which he is shocked when Claire suggests he could use the floor in her room. Sleeping in a room with a woman who is not his wife? Oh, no, too much to ask of a young Scot with morals and values. Seriously adorable reaction on Jamie’s part.

The scenes leading up to the wedding, the conversations between Claire and Dougal, Claire getting drunk and all that, are hilarious like so many other scenes in the complete series. Very entertaining, for instance the fact, that Dougal doesn’t consider it necessary to ask Jamie if he would be willing to marry Claire at all. I don’t quite remember how surprised I was about the “You must marry a Scot. Young Jamie” plot back in 2009. But I do remember that my jaw dropped at this dialogue:
Claire: “Does it bother you, that I’m not a virgin?” – Jamie: “Well, no. As long as it doesn’t bother you that I am. Reckon one of us should know what they are doing”
LOL. Another favourite part in this chapter:
Suddenly the inn door opened and the sun came out, in the person of James. If I was a radiant bride, the groom was positively resplendent. My mouth fell open and stayed that way.
A Highlander in full regalia is an impressive sight – any Highlander, no matter how old, ill-favoured or crabbed in appearance. A tall, straight-bodied and by no means ill-favoured young highlander at close range is breathtaking.

*drool* ;-)
I love that Jamie doesn’t wear the MacKenzie tartan but his own for his wedding and that he gives his mother’s pearls to Claire as a wedding present.

And finally after almost 10 hours of listening (no idea how many pages in the book, 30% of the story according to my Kindle *g*) just before the wedding my favourite guy in fiction finally officially introduces himself: James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser. *sigh* Even Claire is so flustered that she fully introduces herself and offers him her hand… LOL Seriously one of my favourite moments…

I thought that introduction was a good moment to stop the audiobook for today. Tomorrow in the car on my way to work I will listening to the wedding night. Curious how that will turn out and if I’ll make it safely to the office *g*
