Outlander Chronicles 2013, Day 014

Outlander Chronicles 2013
Day 014 |Audiobook: Outlander, Part 3 | 02:43:50 – 04:42:00
almost the end of chapter 25: Thou shall not suffer a witch to live

Lots of important stuff happened…
Claire admits to Geilie (and herself) that she really loves Jamie.
She suffers through a witch trial (her matter-of-factly and ironically view of it all – despite the danger she is in – is very entertaining. And I wasn’t scared for her, she is the main character, of course they won’t burn her!)
I remember the “OMFG” reaction, when I first read about Geilie’s smallpox vaccination mark.
Jamie shows up to save Claire at the last minute, in true “knight in shining armor” style.
Claire finally tells him the truth about herself and he takes her back to the standing stones.

[That’s where I ended it for today, because as much as I know I’ll enjoy listening to what’s happening next, I’m exhausted and need my sleep.]

Things Jamie said (lots and lots of wonderful things)…

“I draw my sword in defense of this woman and the truth,” he said. “If any here be against those two, they’ll answer to me and then God, in that order.”
[….]
“I said before that I’d not ask ye things ye had no wish to tell me. And I’d not ask ye now; but I must know, for your safety as well as mine.” He paused, hesitating. “Claire, if you’ve never been honest wi’ me, be so now, for I must know the truth. Claire, are ye a witch?”
[….]
“I would have gone to the stakes with you,” he said violently. And to hell beyond, if I must.”
[….]
“Aye, I believe ye, Sassenach. But it would ha’ been a good deal easier, if you’d only been a witch.”
