Three Posts in One (Life, Scotland, Outlander)

First things first, in case you haven’t noticed it: I finally managed to change the header image of this blog, which I wanted to do for a long time. I really like how this one turned out, because it’s a fond memory of Scotland and cheers me up whenever I look at it.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me at the moment, but I’m sort of lackluster when it comes to writing decent blog posts. It’s not that there isn’t anything worth writing about, even though the things I sometimes think I could write about aren’t all that important or newsworthy or whatever. But it just never gets from the vague idea to actual words on the screen. I’m so exhausted all the time and feeling off and… I don’t know. I really hope that I’ll get back some of my inspiration and motivation when I’m on vacation and well rested and my days are filled with interesting stuff instead of work, commute, eat, catching up with my TV shows and sleep.

I spent the whole day at a university workshop about scientific writing yesterday. It was more a series of lectures about various subjects and stuff I actually should already know, because I already managed to graduate once, but that’s been a long time ago and with the 2nd degree I’m working on at the moment, it couldn’t hurt to refresh my memory. It was interesting enough and in parts really helpful, so the hours spent there have been worth it, but of course it took all day, which means I didn’t get much rest yesterday and neither did I get anything done of the usual household chores.

Anyway, here is another batch of photos from my trip to Scotland last summer. (If I continue at that “speed” I might have posted all my vacation photos sometime next year *g*)

Day 04: 15 August, Northern Highlands (Part 1)
Basics itinary: We drove north from Inverness, passed the Falls of Shin and continued through the Highlands up to my favourite castle ruin at Loch Assynth: Ardvreck Castle. After that: Ullapool and back to Inverness with a stop at the Falls of Meassach in the Corrishalloch Gorge. We passed a lot of wonderful lochs, settled between mountains and it was Scotland as it’s finest IMHO

Outlander Chronicles 2013
Day 037 – Day 038 (21 February – 22 February)
Audiobook: Dragonfly in Amber, Part Five: Lallybroch (Chapter 29 – 35)

Adorable Jamie moments
getting drunk to avoid the seasickness | sharing childhood memories with Claire | being ignorant about how to prepare potatoes for eating | with young Jamie at the fire | rummaging through his sporran looking for the gift he brought Claire | arguing with Ian about taking him to fight for Charles Stuart (“Because I’m bigger than you are!”)

Moments that brought tears to my eyes
Jamie remembering his brother Willie | Ian’s decision to stay at Lallybroch (“I shall stay here,” he repeated. “‘Guardin’ your weak side, man.”) | Jamie pouring out his heart to little Kitty | Claire imagining Jamie doing the same to their child some day [and as reader knowing that he won’t]

More random thoughts
Jenny Murray rocks! Plain and simple!

I didn’t remember Rabbie McNabb was suffering from epilepsy.

Fergus is adorable. No wonder he gets along so well with Jamie :-)

After having read “The Space Between” I’m wondering if the moments in which Claire visualizes the flowing of her blood have another meaning after all. If that’s something similar to what the Comte can do or if it’s just coincidence.

    That’s a lovely header photo!

There are seasons of ebbs and flows in writing, blogging and life in general.

Thanks. I really just hope that the writing flow will start some day soon again. I kind of miss it…

I get backed up in blogging, because I don’t blog about something when it happens, and then I think “well, how can I write about [new event] when I haven’t even written about [old event] yet?And I can’t write about [old event] because I don’t have the pictures from it.” But then it’s weeks and I haven’t written *anything.* So now I just write when I can, and I don’t worry too much about missing stuff. I tell myself I can go back later, but I never do. :p

I also get backed up in blog reading, then I get overwhelmed by how backed up I am, and so I just read fail blog. But, as you can see, I’m making an effort to get caught up!

You definitely catch up with leaving comments, yikes! Thanks a lot :) I always want to leave more comments but then I often postpone/forget about it because most of the time I read blogs in my feedly reader on my phone and leaving comments via the phone sucks. I’ll try to do better in the future though.
