A Few Thoughts on Outlander 1.09 – The Reckoning

Originally I had planned to write a long review to celebrate Outlander finally being back, but even though I watched the episode twice (and took some notes, yes I’m a nerd like that), right now I don’t just feel like putting all my thoughts in a detailed and coherent post. Does that make sense? I don’t know…

So in short: I actually enjoyed the episode a lot. When I watched it the first time some changes they made from book bothered me a bit, but after a 2nd time they actually made more sense to me. They did a great job bringing the most important scenes or essence of scenes / dialogues from the pages of the book to the TV screen and that’s all that matters in the end. And I’ll just hope that some of the lines I missed, might make an apperance in the next episode or the one after that.

Switching to Jamie’s point-of-view in this episode made a lot of sense to me and I admit I just love to hear him talk to me ;-) I was thrilled to have the beautiful Scottish landscape back on my screen and I’m so looking forward to my trip up there this summer. Without the snow though.

Caitriona, Sam and Tobias really killed it in all their scenes together. BJR is so utterly creepy! And knowing what will happen later in the story I’m more than ever a bit of scared to actually watch the Wentworth prison episodes. The fight between Jamie and Claire at the river was sooooo good! Just like I had pictured it, nose to nose screaming at each other. Awesome. And then there was the infamous “spanking” / punishing scenes, which was brilliantly done in my eyes.

And last but not least, there was the making up scene in the end. Because OMFG! I mean HOT doesn’t even begin to describe it. Seriously… OH.MY.FUCKING.GOD ;-)
