Almost On My Way To Scotland…

Baby, let’s get out of the city,
We need to breathe some cleaner air.
(Wanderlust ~ Frank Turner, 2011)

I’m leaving for my Scotland vacation tomorrow morning and though I’m not leaving the cities right away (I’ll spend a week in Edinburgh and Glasgow first), I’m sure the change of scenery alone will feel like a breath of fresh air. A different city, another language, nice things to see, fun things to do and basically just the chance to do whatever I want to do on any given day. I have a few things scheduled and a few things vaguely planned, so it’s not like I’ll take every day as it comes. But the possibility to just wander and just be… I’m very much looking forward to that and I’m planning to make the most of it.

And then, of course, after my week in the cities I’ll be spending a whole week (well 6 days, if you discount the arrival- and departure days ) on Lewis and Harris. And there I have even less things firmly planned and nothing scheduled (yet). I might just spend most afternoons sitting on one of the many beaches (huddled up against the wind) and look out to the sea. And that’ll be fine.

After the last few weeks (at work and elsewhere) I really feel like I need to unwind a bit. Recharge. Breathe. And what better place is there to do just that than at the ocean..?

I’m not sure how much I will blog while I’m in Scotland, but I’m sure I will tweet quite a bit (as I’m travelling on my own I need someone to share my excitement with *g*) and share photos via Instagram.  My Twitter | My Instagram
